Merry Christmas, friends!
We officially kicked off our Christmas with our traditional celebration at home last night after I got home from work. We cracked open a bottle of red wine and Teacher Man grilled up steaks while I made mashed potatoes and glazed carrots – a pretty simple meal that tastes amazing and we all love it (including Picky-Eater-Joe and Earl the Pug, who has a special affinity for steak, as you can imagine).
Amazing how helpful Joe can be cleaning up the kitchen when he has presents to open afterwards. 😉
It’s one of our favorite family nights of the year – good food, Christmas music filling the house, and sitting in our porch watching Joe unwrap his gifts. Memories to treasure!
Santa came early to our house this morning, as he has always done. When Joe was little, we told him Santa knew we would be gone on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so he was happy to come early. Joe never questioned this (ever!) and even though he’s now past the age of “believing,” we still talk about the magic of Christmas and make sure Santa fills up our stockings!
We’re hitting the road today to spend Christmas Eve with Teacher Man’s side of the family, and we’ll turn around Christmas Day and drive to the farm to see my family. It’s a busy two days but it’s another one of our traditions and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ll be back in a few days with more than a few photos to share of our family celebrations, I’m sure. In the meantime, Teacher Man, Joe, and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
