If you follow my blog with any regularity, then you know I’m part of Jennie-O Turkey Store’s “Switch Circle” of bloggers. No big surprise, I’m sure, since I have a passion for turkey – and since Jennie-O is based in Minnesota, I actually know many of the farmers who raise turkey for the company. Surely a win-win for me. 🙂
And I’m also #winning this week because I found this super fun, super easy turkey burger recipe on the Jennie-O website. It’s not just another turkey burger recipe, though. It’s got the added kick of chili and instead of a bun, a thick slice of garlic bread is used – and did I mention you can shape the patty like a football?
It all adds up to a slightly unexpected way to try turkey burgers, and we loved it at our house!
How are you trying turkey this week?

- ⅓ cup finely chopped cilantro
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

- Spray non-stick skillet with cooking spray.
- Place patties in skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cover and cook for 16-18 minutes, turning two to three times and until internal temperature reaches well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer.
- Heat broiler.
- Place turkey burger on garlic toast.
- Top with chili and cheese.
- Broil four to five inches from heat source for two to three minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Top with sour cream.
Notes
For the garlic bread, I bought Market Pantry frozen garlic Texas Toast at Target - it was the perfect size for the patties. Adapted from Jennie-O Turkey Store
