I am sitting in the Detroit airport right now, enjoying – really enjoying, actually – a little quiet time to reflect on the meeting I just attended. I’m tucked away near Gate 12, with no more than a handful of people around me and CNN running on the big screen above.
Just me, my iced mocha, and my laptop … an introvert’s dream!
I’m not feeling too terribly bad about having an extra couple of hours before my flight. It gives me time to re-group, take a look at my notes, and figure out what my next steps will be. And the quiet time with no interruptions feels almost priceless, I must admit! 😉
The meeting I attended was all about the “Turkey Demand Project,” an ongoing initiative by National Turkey Federation members to increase demand for turkey products all year-round. After more than two years of planning and executing various strategies as well as developing our social media presence, this project is really coming into its own.
That’s why I want to share a few recipe links from our “Turkey Ambassadors”, who have been instrumental in creating some exciting, healthy, and family friendly options for turkey – and have helped us amplify our messages about ways to try turkey.
- Individual Turkey and Rice Casseroles – from Holley Grainger, MS, RD (HolleyGrainger.com)
- Skillet Italian Herb Bruschetta Turkey – from Kristina LaRue, RD, CSSD (LoveAndZest.com)
- Mediterranean Turkey Spinach Salad – from Lindsay Livingston, RD (TheLeanGreenBean.com)
I can’t wait to try all of these!
Also of note … if you are on Twitter, you can take part in a fun Twitter Chat with @ServeTurkey and Lindsay Livingston on Thursday, May 11 from 7-9 CST. As you might imagine, this Twitter chat will be about all the turkey things … how to cook it, healthy eating tips, new recipe ideas, and more!
That’s it for now from Detroit … I will, as always, keep you posted on what’s happening in the world of turkey. Hope you all have a great hump day!
xoxo – Lara
