I saw many signs of spring up here in the north country of Minnesota over the weekend – thank goodness! In the age of coronavirus, spring weather and hints of green are a welcome sight, even beyond the usual excitement this time of year to put winter behind us.
Time to Golf!
Golf courses are open (a new edict from the Governor!) and for our family, that is certainly a sign of spring. We took a break last week from distance teaching and distance learning to hit some golf balls at a local driving range. Then we went to one of our local golf course for 9 holes on Saturday.
Gardening – Good for the Soul
My focus the rest of the weekend has been on my gardens – at least as much as it can be right now. Typically I don’t plant much in terms of veggies, annuals or containers until after Mother’s Day weekend so I still have some time. However, I did continue to clean up my beds, move some plants around, and figure out where some of my holes are. It’s good for my soul right now to see plants sprouting up – another sure sign of spring.
First daffodil bloom of spring. My great-grandfather’s peony bush is growing fast! Can you spot my radishes? The perennials are coming up, and my frog gardening decor is back at it too.
Down the Path
With such lovely weather, I’ve taken walks in and around my neighborhood, enjoying the blue skies and signs of spring along the paths. I am always amazed, though, at how long it takes the cattails to spring to life. While there is still a lot of brown around us, the trees are leafing out quickly and May sunshine will speed things up too.
Peaceful, Easy Feeling
Ending my Saturday night by a fire with a glass of wine isn’t too shabby either.
I hope you are well and safe and healthy. Stay positive!
