Today’s recipe for turkey and gravy noodle bake is courtesy of my Mom … and it is certainly a classic comfort dish.

We talk a lot at my work about making sure people realize turkey isn’t just about the whole bird, mashed potatoes, and gravy. But sometimes you just need a hotdish like this one in your arsenal!

Creamy Turkey & Gravy Noodle Bake

Ingredients
  

Noodle Bake

  • 12 oz. about 6 cups medium noodles
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 3 1/2 Cups milk my mom uses whole or 2%
  • 1/4 C all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 -10 3/4 oz. cans Heinz chicken gravy
  • 4 Cups diced cooked turkey

Topping

  • 1/2 C fine bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 T. melted butter
  • 1 C American cheese or your choice of favorite cheese

Instructions
 

  • Cook noodles according to package directions.
  • Drain.
  • Add 2 T. butter and 1/2 cup of the milk to the noodles.
  • Melt remaining 6 T. butter.
  • Blend in flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the remaining 3 cups of milk.
  • Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles.
  • Stir in the gravy, chicken and noodles.
  • Spread in 13x9x2 inch baking dish (my mom likes to use a glass dish).
  • Bake covered in a moderate oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  • Mix the topping together and sprinkle around the edges of the casserole.
  • Bake 10 minutes more.

Notes

The topping mixture can be doubled and then sprinkled over the entire top of the casserole if desired.

    • Hi Kristina! Yes, absolutely – you can could sub spaghetti noodles for this. I’m thinking you could go with approximately the same amount (not quite a full 16 oz box of spaghetti noodles) and you would be just fine! Let me know how it turns out!
