My piano.
My first big purchase after landing a real, honest-to-goodness full-time job 21 years ago. (Well, along with some interest-free assistance from my parents.)
My nemesis when I was in elementary school and I didn’t feel like practicing.
My stress reliever when I’ve had a long day and I don’t want to think or make decisions anymore.
My joy when I pull out the Christmas music books in December or a little Mozart any time of year.
I just play.
And it makes me happy.
I wish I learned to play the piano! My mom made my sister and brother learn, but I guess by the time number 3 kid (me) rolled around she gave up forcing her kids to learn music, which is a shame because I am the one who would now appreciate it haha. I want to teach myself some day. I need to buy a keyboard or something.
It’s never too late to learn! I used to teach piano lessons and have had adult students, so I say go for it! 🙂 I am so glad I learned – it’s been a gift for a me for sure!
Believe it or not Lara, but I took piano lessons many moons ago for about 6 years. I can still play some, but am pretty slow and have to look at the keys to prevent too many mistakes. Playing piano helps me keep on pitch when I sing in church choir or play in the handbell choir.
I knew you were musical, Mike, so this doesn’t surprise me! 🙂
